Seaside Mushroom Home

Watch your dinner Grow
We grow and sell Oyster Mushroom Kits at our roadside stand at the corner of Rippet Lane and Highway 101 two miles South of Seaside Oregon.   We try to keep the kits out year round, weather permitting.  Each kit is $10.

>>>Currently on the stand:  Grey Oysters<<<

Just in time for colder weather, Grey Oyster mushroom kits are here

Our mushroom kits are created indoors under controlled environments.  From the lab, to growing in specific rooms dedicated to their growth, to being hardened to go outside.  Your mushroom kits are created with either cereals, or pasturized straw in self contained bio bags to give them optimum growth.

It all starts in the sterile lab.....

Our mushrooms are propagated via tissue culture.  This ensures we use the fastest growing, and hardiest varieties available.

Once created, our kits are transferred to rooms that are controlled environments to give them the best chance of growing out quickly and properly.

Kits being grown

Mushroom Species available

Pearl Oysters Pleurotus ostreatus

White to beige colour, Grows between 55*-75*F

Hardy, and fast growers, these are the most available mushroom kits we grow.  They are also very tasty in a huge variety of recipes.  The smaller mushrooms are excellent for fish, seafood, chicken, omlette recipes.  The larger, more mature Pearls are excellent for use with beef or pasta dishes where a more 'mushroomy' flavor is desired.  Excellent choice for vegan and vegetarian dishes!  Can be added to any main or side dish.

Grey Oysters    Pleurotus ostreatus var. columbinus

Darker coloured Oyster mushrooms, Grows between 45–65 °F

This is a hardy, cold-weather variant of the Pearl Oyster Mushroom. It produces beautiful, darker coloured mushrooms that lighten in color as they mature. Requires temperatures of approximately 65 °F to produce. Freezing is not harmful to this kit.

Very similar in flavor to a matured Pearl Oyster Mushroom.  These are ideal for a more mushroomy flavor, perfect for pasta sauces, beef/steak recipes and stews or soups.  A lovely addition to your winter lineup.

Pink Oysters Pleurotus djamor

Pale pink and white colour, Grows between 70* -85*F

More delicate, these are a warmer weather mushroom.  These have a mild flavor that are delightful for fish, seafood, chicken and omlette type recipes.  Although they can be used in any favorite mushroom recipe, they don't have as strong a flavor as the Pearls do, so they may be lost in beef or burger recipes.   Another excellent choice for vegan and vegetarian dishes!!!

>>Please note, these are only available during summer months as they need warmer temperatures to grow
